Reception Friday, June 25th, 6:00-8:00pm. Join us for the first showing of this collection of paintings and drawings by Brian Druckenmiller. These works portray the diversity of his skill, which is full of imagination, experimentation, and bold expression. The Once Was and May Be exhibition offers an array of work spanning over several years with insight to the artists that heavily inspired him. Many of his paintings reflect on a certain time, with a mood of either lazy romance or wild adventure, often projected with a somewhat bucolic nature. Most of his work focuses on life’s simple pleasantries, yet are full of complexity and symbolism relevant to his past. He paints of lost romance and youth, daydreams of lonely wandering, and the anxieties of the present and future. As a viewer, you will see the thread of narratives throughout his work and notice common themes, but also witness his attempts at experimentation, following his impulse to create random content and subject matter. It is that method, that way of creating, that thrills him the most. Brian has always claimed to do his best work on a whim.
Brian Druckenmiller studied advertising arts at Pennsylvania College of Technology, with minimal formal training in the fine arts. Most of what he learned was by his own hand. He only declared himself a real artist, oddly, after pursuing a short-lived mural business. Since then, after years of travel and many relocations, Brian has found himself living in the heart of Pittsburgh, surrounded by inspirational people and community.
