The Circle Of Life Is Sometimes A Square by Gwendolyn Healy
The Circle Of Life Is Sometimes A Square by Gwendolyn Healy

As a society we are finally acknowledging that Black women are underrepresented and undervalued in our culture. The history of the Black female experience in America is . . . . well, let’s not try to define it. It is time for us to LISTEN. This MAVUNO exhibition presents works created by Black female artists that explore the ideas, experiences, triumphs and struggles specific to being a Black woman in America. LISTEN seeks to illuminate intersectionality, give voice to Black women, and encourage all to hear their realities.

LISTEN is juried by Elizabeth Asche Douglas. Elizabeth “Betty” Asche Douglas is a visual artist, musician and educator. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Art in painting and design from Carnegie Mellon University and her Master of Art from the University of Pittsburgh.
