Depicted in the Mud will showcase ceramic wares and artists who emphasize surface, messages, and storytelling through vessels or pottery. For centuries, civilizations have been documenting their experiences in clay, telling stories, and recording history through drawings, symbols, and words. Today is no different, and this medium still serves as a way for us to communicate. When the message is depicted on a functional ware or vessel, one we can hold up close and personal, and interact with, the message becomes more intimate, repetitious, and comfortable.
Our world, especially today, has never ceased to provide us with content to internalize and share. With that, the prospectus of this show is rather open, with the overall unifying theme being artists who share their thoughts, messages, stories, experiences, and feelings on the surface of clay.
