SEWICKLEY — Sweetwater Center for the Arts in Sewickley has received grant approval from the Heinz Endowments to support the establishment of an Artist Council that will augment diversity and inclusion in its community-based programming, increase accessibility for local artists in the community, and offer high-quality arts programs to enhance awareness of the Center’s.
“Sweetwater Center for the Arts is extremely thankful for this funding from the Heinz Endowments. These funds will help us as we develop new structures and policies that focus on the development of artists in our community in an equitable and impactful way,” executive director Christine Brondyke said.
The grant will help to amplify opportunities for local artists and implement high-quality programs that showcase regional and even national artists. Funding will also be used to review policies, practices and procedures to ensure that they are equitable and align with Sweetwater Center’s mission as an artistic hub into the future.
“The funding will allow us to move forward with the creation of master classes that will bring in artists from around the country who want to train with masters,” Brondyke said.
