About Deavron Dailey:
Deavron “The Urban Explorer” Dailey is a Detroit native and Pittsburgh based visual artist. In addition to over 13 years in professional art design and production, Deavron has experience in curating and facilitating. One such experience is Deavron’s participation in the formation of the “Art Lending Collection” which was part of the 2013 Carnegie International. In the past 8 years Deavron’s art practice has expanded to include a considerable presence in public art. He has currently completed close to 10 medium to large-scale public artworks and public art installations. In 2017 Deavron created “The Arms of East Liberty,” which is a 3,500 lb. handmade ceramic tile and stainless steel painting.
I use a wide range of artistic media to create my work such as screen printing, painting, ceramics, writing, and more. More than one of these forms of artistic media often find their way into one project. I find inspiration in specific locations, buildings, landscape details, etc. I find great pleasure in determining which form of artistic media accurately depicts the feeling of interest, mood, or inspiration that was evoked within me. Seeking out and engaging with new or unfamiliar locations, communities, and/or art production spaces is also a fundamental element of my art practice. Social justice, perseverance, and developing a renewed sense of appreciation of our surroundings are themes that are often found in my work. But just like the world we live in, the themes and concepts addressed in my work change from time to time.
