SPRING 2017 FIBER CLASSES

Fabric and Metals FA01 Ages 18+
Get in touch with nature as you learn how to botanical print (Eco printing) onto cotton, wool, silk and paper. Incorporate your printed fabrics with other materials such as metal, yarn, wax, thread and beads into mixed media art under the guidance of Pittsburgh Fiber and metals artist Jill Valenzuela. In addition to botanical printing students will all explore basic metalsmithing techniques with copper and ways to incorporate both materials to make unique masterpieces. Basic materials are included in the tuition. Extra materials may be purchased during class.

Needle Felting Basics FA02 Ages 18+
Our Needle Felting Basics workshop designed to introduce participants to the basic tools and techniques used in sculptural needle felting. Attendees will learn the properties of unspun wool and build a familiarity with needles and sundries used to process and shape wool in three dimensions. From this workshop attendees will take away basic needle felting skills and will construct their own needle felting creations to take home. Materials fee is included in the tuition.
