Studying the Portrait: Art Lecture with Christine Swann

Watch and learn from master portrait artist, Christine Swann as she paints a portrait with a live model. Hear her speak about the planes of the head, lighting, and elements to keep in mind to best reproduce and likeness.

Christine Swann Bio: Southwest Art Magazine selected Christine Swann as an “Artist To Watch” and she won the Gold Medal at the 2013 IAPS Convention and the “Prix de Pastel” at the 2015 Masters Circle Exhibition. Her “personality portraits” have been honored many times in the Pastel 100 Competition, including Second Place for a portrait in 2014.

The French Magazine, Pratique des Arts has featured her portraits in a series of articles and the The Pastel Journal published her philosophy about pastels in the article, “Powering Up”. She has also been included in art books such as the French book, “40 Pastel Masters” and her art has traveled to exhibitions in China, Italy and France.

A Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America and an IAPS Masters’ Circle Member, she currently teaches the “Power of Pastel” workshop and has been writing a weekly blog on life, art and motherhood at swannportraits.com.
