Adult Drawing Fundamentals DR01

Adult Drawing Fundamentals DR01

Develop or refresh your drawing knowledge and skills through instruction based on still life set-ups (for beginner to intermediate students).

Each class will introduce a specific drawing principle as a core focus. The approach will be demonstrated during the session and serve as a guide for students' efforts.
Week 1: Material exploration, mark making, starting the drawing process, sighting, horizontal and vertical relationships, and coincidences
Week 2: Gesture, arcs, ellipses, enclosures, arabesques, and flow
Week 3: Measuring, notional space, and points of constant reference
Week 4: Line quality, line weight, aerial perspective, and passage
Week 5: Values, edges, charcoal, and blocking in
Week 6: Positive/negative space, composition, gazing directions, and thumbnail sketching

Safety measures for Covid-19 include the following:
Small class sizes, temperature reading and review of health systems prior to each class, appropriate social distancing and hourly disinfection of high-touch points. Materials are supplied, but students are encouraged to bring supplies if owned. Sharing will be limited where possible - supplies will be sanitized between use.
