Sweetwater to host reception for futurist ‘Times End’ installation

Sweetwater Center for the Arts, Sewickley, will host an opening reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Jan. 17 for Times End, an installation that offers futurist views for our society, culture and planet.

As our world evolves, we see changes that inspire awe and fear in what is to come. With speculative fiction, afrofuturism, dystopian and utopian visions, artists are often the creators of society’s imagined future.

Artists participating include Scott Andrew, Pat Broughton, Danielle Cartier, Peter Cehily, Sidney Church, Mairead Dambruch, Adam Farcus, Donté K. Hayes, Malik Lloyd, George Lorio, Jenn Meridian, Ronald Nigro, Robert Patrick, Kofi Perry, Areca Roe, Andre Rubin, Quaishawn Whitlock and Hyla Willis.

Times End is juried by Alisha B. Wormsley, an interdisciplinary artist and cultural producer. Her work is about collective memory and the synchronicity of time, specifically through the stories of women of color.
