Child Drop-off and Dismissal Policy
The following policy applies to children enrolled in preschool and children’s classes (Ages 3-12). In order to keep your child safe, please escort him/her to class every day. If anyone other than yourself is to pick your child up, please write a note and give it to the instructor at class. A photo id must be shown when picking up children from class. If you give your teen permission to walk home or to meet you outside after class, then you must write a note stating this and give it to the instructor.

Students may register for any class, space permitting, before the second class. However, class fees are not prorated, and cancellation decisions are made 2 days prior to the start date.

All materials, unless otherwise noted, will be supplied by students at their own expense. A list of necessary materials can be found online.
Sweetwater Course Policy
Sweetwater makes every effort to maintain the schedule of courses as indicated in the catalog. However, we reserve the right to cancel courses, change instructors and combine classes when necessary without prior notification.
Cancellations and Refunds
Sweetwater does not offer make-up classes or tuition reimbursement for student absenteeism. Sweetwater does not prorate tuition for classes that the student cannot attend.
If Sweetwater must cancel a class due to insufficient enrollment, registered students will be notified 2 days before the start date, and tuition will be reimbursed within 30 days of notification.
If the student must cancel his/her enrollment in a course, the following cancellation policy will apply:
Class cancellations must be made at least 3 business days prior to the start date of class. Students may receive either a partial refund ($25 cancellation fee will be applied) OR a credit voucher in the full amount if they cancel no less than 3 business days before the class start date. No refunds or credit vouchers will be given without 3 business days notice.
Inclement Weather Policy
Sweetwater makes every effort possible to keep its programs running during periods of inclement weather. Closing decisions are based on weather alerts, road and school closings and the ability of the Sweetwater staff to get to and from the Center and operate the facility safely. In case of closing and/or program cancellations, Sweetwater will update its website's homepage and main voicemail: Website: www.SweetwaterArtCenter.org Main Voicemail: 412-741-4405 PLEASE NOTE: Sweetwater no longer calls students to inform them of class cancellations due to inclement weather. In the event that Sweetwater cancels a class due to inclement weather, a make-up class will be scheduled. If a make-up class cannot be scheduled, students will be issued a credit voucher or refund for the cancelled class.
Students and members may rent the ceramic studio whenever the schedule permits. Studio rentals are not to be used for business purposes. Please refer to our Studio Rentals page for additional information and pricing.
Pottery Studio Firing/Glazing Fee
Due to the increasing cost to Sweetwater to fire the work of those who are not enrolled in a class but who wish to rent our studio and work independently, a firing/glazing fee of $15 will be charged at the time clay is purchased. Students who are enrolled in a class, have paid their material fee and wish to work on projects on their own are exempt from the firing/glazing fee. The firing schedule will give priority to the work of students currently enrolled in a class.
