ART EDUCATION INTERN - SUMMER 2016
Sweetwater Center for the Arts seeks enthusiastic, responsible and focused college students to assist with our summer art camps.
Sweetwater provides interns with an exciting and rewarding atmosphere, where they will gain valuable experience working in a nonprofit environment. This is an excellent opportunity for interns to establish references and build their resumes in education. Duties include assisting instructors with children’s summer camps, on and off site. Interns may be required to assist with various administrative tasks as well. Special projects will be given based on intern’s strengths, as well as the needs of Sweetwater. These internships are paid, we offer a small stipend at the end of the internships that is based on the amount of hours worked.
Applicants must be a current student studying Elementary Education, Art Education or a similar major, have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, enjoy working with children, eager to learn and have a strong work ethic. Schedule is flexible; however, summer interns must be available on weekdays during the daytime.

EVENT PLANNING/EXHIBITION INTERNS (2 positions available)
Sweetwater Center for the Arts seek two Event Planning/Exhibition interns for fall 2015. Internships will begin in September and end in December. Qualified interns must have a background in event planning, marketing or arts administration and possess excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, as well as an ability to work independently, creatively and efficiently.
A knowledge of or prior experience in the arts is preferred, and strong computer skills in both word processing, design and web software are encouraged. Responsibilities will include assisting the Event Coordinator & the Artistic Coordinator with planning, set up, cleanup and other tasks during events and gallery exhibitions, hanging exhibitions, preparing materials for events and exhibitions. Interns may be required to assist with various administrative tasks as well.
These internships are paid, we offer a small stipend at the end of the internships that is based on the amount of hours worked. These internships also offer great experience in the areas of event planning and arts administration. Selected interns are expected to work 15-20 hours per week; schedule is flexible and can include daytime, evening or weekend hours.
It is also expected that the selected interns be available to work during our fall events. Important fall events are a blues music concert series Friday nights in October and our Holiday Mart fundraising sale in late November/early December.
